My little black book. Entry 10.

I had a bit of a de-tour there with the last two posts but I'll try to get back on track. I cut and pasted these few pages together in the winter of last year, just after ELLE released thier 25th anniversary issue (all 450 pages of it!) The shoot titled 'The word girl' is one of my all time favourites. Mainly because it is so classic and timeless. Coco Rocha is incredible in it. Her fluency and passion really encapture the meaning and history of each of the 25 key pieces. My favourite is the leather jacket. The way the photographer David Vasiljevic shot it really embodied the excitement and adreneline that the leather jacket really is. Below you can see a few examples of the shoot.

Then of course Lindsey Wixon pops up as the face of yet another campaign. She's pretty much the same age as me, its mental. The fashion industry are starting to use younger and younger faces. I think this is sad as she cant possibly have a normal life, i'm sure its glamourous and exciting but the pressure to stay skinny, always working and traveling must be exhausting. I mean look at this incredible picture of Elle Fanning, she's on her way to international fame and shes only 14! (I think this rant is probably about 30% jealously and 70% real frustration, actually make that 40% 60% ;) )

Blake Lively. Love Love Love Love. I don't feel I need to give explanation as to why. Just because xoxo

Susi Bubble oOoOo

So on Friday I read on the Topshop Inside-out blog that Susi Bubble from one of my favourite fashion blogs, the style bubble was coming in to the Oxford street store on Saturday (the next day) to do a talk on fashion blogging for LFW. I was instantly filled with excitement and began thinking of a plan to get my family to let me go on a last minute trip. Rushing downstairs to ask I was greeted with my dad spontaneously asking me if I wanted to go to London the next day with my sister.. (this is when I secretly began doing overly enthusiastic star jumps of happiness in my head.)

So there I sat half an hour and a bit early for the talk in the middle of the floor of shoppers waiting to see Mrs Bubble herself. She wore an amazing Louise Gray shirt, Issey Miyake skirt, vintage shoes and Tsumori Chisato cardigan. A bright vision of highlighter colours cleverly put together to look as eye-catching and fresh as an exotic fruit. A very stylish fruit that is ;)

Afterwards she answered questions such as how do you get more traffic to your blog, do you feel celebrity style is more valued these days then street style, how did you make the transition from a job to full time blogger. I probably should of done my good blogger duties and taken notes like a few people around me but i'm not really one to be that organized :L She seemed really sweet and genuine, but slightly less energetic and well hate to say it but bubbly as I imagined. Although she was probably just tired from all the shows she had to go to in the week, god poor sole ;)

Sitting next to Susi here is the head of Topshops blog, Inside-out. She seemed extremely friendly and nice as well. She talked about what Topshop like to post about such as, what girls are wearing in the office, new shows as hot off the catwalk as they possibly can and basically whatever they find interesting and want to share. She also talked about how she got her job as head of the blog and how to find inspiration for posts etc.
One thing Susi said that really stuck in my head was that if she dosn't like a show then she just won't blog about it. Simple as that. I thought that that was a bit silly really, if you get to go to all these shows why not show people what trends to avoid and what you think dosn't work, it can be just as interesting as what you do like. You shouldn't be afraid to get people talking sometimes. Just the tiniest bit of constructive criticism but overall, I still love her <3 xoxo

My little black book. Entry 9.

This was made around November last year. The phase where I went through wanting my cartilage pierced. I didn't think it was a good idea at first but then I saw this model in ELLE and I thought it was like the coolest thing ever. However I soon forgot about the fact I wanted it and have decided to leave my ears alone since :L I think I must of been distracted by the opening of the Selfridges Shoe Gallery, as it is the most mesmerizing and dreamy place ever. Especially the Christian Louboutain corner, like a little piece of red soled heaven (mental sigh).
When I saw Brighton as the main set of Vogues, Lara Stone photo shoot I was just a little bit excited. Made me pretty sure that Brighton was the coolest place to be in the English summer. Having said that i'm yet to go to the pier in all white and people watch whilst eating candy-floss. Definitely top of my list for things to do this summer ;) And how amazingly striking and breathtaking is that cosmic Christopher Kane resort '11 pattern :O fashion just never disappoints xoxo

My little black book. Entry 8.

AHHHHHH people are actually starting to read my blog!!! :) :) :) OMG. so. Exciting. But the show must go on. This page is one of my favourites so far, firstly as its Alexa and as it doesn't relate to any particular season or anything so I can pretend for a second i'm up to date. Now who dosnt love a quirky English style icon. I could tell you about how she became famous and got a bag named after her (she got a bag named after her!! One day that will be me! ;) ) and became a model/T.V presenter blah blah blah, but I've never even seen her do anything on tv, all ive seen are her amazing outfits in about every fashion magazine I pick up (even Heat :L ). In all the interviews iv'e read of her she always seems so cool, laid-back and humble, driving around Manhattan on Alex Turner (her boyfriend and lead singer of arctic monkeys) motorbike, going from shoot to interview to party to award ceremony, getting free clothes, and basically just looking cool all the time. Personally I think thats a good enough reason to decide she is bloody brilliant. Not forgetting her clothes, oh the clothes. Heres a bit of advice if your ever stuck on what to wear just google image Alexa Chung, she's rocked every look from pretty church girl to biker chick, you'd be surprised as to how inspiring some of her outfits are. Talk to you next time xoxo

My little black book. Entry 7.

Hey again :) so we've moved onto a bit of the general A/W '10 trends. I think the a couple of my favourites were definitely the camel coat and leather shorts. I never did get my hands on either unfortunately :( However I did get some AMAZING black hiking boots, which on my christmas shopping journeys to london people literally ran after me off the tube to ask were I got them, I must say I felt pretty proud of my awesome boots, one of my best investments of the season. Omg I nearly forgot my aviator jacket <3 <3 <3 As soon as I saw Burberry's catwalk I new that me and that jacket were meant to be. It had several outings to London also, and caught a few bloggers eyes at London fashion weekend, as well as Britain's next top model live. Jessie J was at that as well, had no idea who she was at the time, but she was fab, anyway.. :L Little sneaky picture of Blake Lively there, just because and that Mui Mui outfit! :O especially the collar,  love love love. Then there's the Chanel '11 cruise line, i'm loving the clothes especially the dress on the left, classic beautiful and simple, although i'm still not convinced by this gappy tooth thing, I just don't get it. Obviously there's that whole individual signature style thing that Georgia May's totally got down but I even heard people in America get braces to separate their front teeth now! I don't know its not for me :L what do you think? xoxo
